The ICD is similar to the Office of the Inspecting Judge in that it is a statutory establishment aimed at promoting human rights in the South African Police Service whilst the Office of the Inspecting Judge inter alia promotes proper conditions within the Department of Correctional Services. During the course of his career he attained the following academic qualifications- Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Education, Master of Education and the University Diploma in Education. He is an admitted advocate of the High Court of South Africa and does not practise for his own account at this stage.
